For vertical chopping of softer nuclei, the thin paddle-shaped design of the Seibel Vertical Safety Chopper is the ideal choice. The curved, beveled edge along the posterior tip ensures that any capsule contact will be distributed over a larger surface area, thereby reducing the chance for inadvertent capsule rupture while its broad flat surfaces aid in safely completing the division down to the posterior plate. On the other end of the instrument, the Chang MicroFinger, with its "finger-shaped" tip and defined inferior edge can be used to divide the nucleus horizontally by slipping the tip around the equator and pulling centrally toward the phaco probe.
60 degree offset inferior wedge for horizontal chopping and a beveled distal tip for vertical chopping on one end. A 12mm long spatula with a disc-shaped tip is on the opposite end.
