Job Title : Laser Technician

Reports To : Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Location : Randolph, NJ


This position supports and maintains the laser etching process including related processes.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the laser etching process, equipment, and supporting documentation
  • Laser etch parts for production
  • Support existing and new product development processes
  • Design, install, and validate laser fixtures as required
  • Assist in writing and conducting validation protocols and reports
  • Acquire and maintain electronic data files related to the laser etching process, including but not limited to setup time, batch quantity, associated labor, and etched mark quality evaluations
  • Preparation of well-structured written reports, procedures, etc.
  • Inspect product characteristics using precision instruments such as caliper and microscope
  • Perform visual inspection of in-process and finished components, sub-assemblies and product
  • Works under direct supervision and in accordance with instructions and techniques
  • Maintain accurate and complete quality records
  • Follow all safety requirements
  • Organize work and storage areas for efficient workflow
  • Maintain company quality standards
  • Perform, as assigned, other similar or related duties

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work with small hand tools under magnification
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively and with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong emphasis in working as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required. Technical associates degree preferred
  • Certificate of Completion for OSHA Laser Safety Training by Compliance Training Online or equivalent
  • Two years minimum of manufacturing experience, preferably in medical devices
  • Mechanical CADD drafting experience
